This is by far one of the nicer high-end collectibles being released through Sideshow this year. Standing at 27" tall, Sideshow Collectibles is now taking orders for the new 1:2 Scale Terminator 2 Endoskeleton produced by Hollywood Collector's Gallery. The bust will have working red LED lights for the signature eyes, and will also have several smaller blue bulb lights. April 21 2009 | tech
The Wall Street Journal released a report today quoting government officials who say that not too long ago, hackers penetrated, copied and stole terabytes of data from the Joint Strike Fighter project, a program being overseen by Lockheed Martin. These files included aircraft designs and files covering the electronic systems of this new fighter jet, already the most expensive weapon program ever created costing more than $330 billion. Each aircraft fetches between $60-90 million. |

FOX Asks Theaters to Pick Up Bill For 3D Specs
April 20 2009 | film | tech
In a recent bold move, Fox Studios is suggesting that the movie theaters pick up the tab for the cost of 3D glasses that will be needed to enjoy their upcoming film, 'Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs'. Up till this point, it's been the movie studios that pay for the glasses used by 3D moviegoers. The glasses are disposable and come at an average price tag of $1 for the studio to manufacture. Given the average movie ticket price of $10, this means that the added 3D glasses expense will cut almost 20% into the revenue for that specific movie theater. That's quite a cut. Does this mean we'll be seeing $20 popcorn in the near future?

Terminator Game Footage Seen in New '2016' Trailer
April 11 2009 | terminator | video game

A newly released trailer for the upcoming Terminator Salvation videogame reveals a good amount of in-game footage for those looking forward to the May 19 release. The plot of the game apparently takes place between the events of Terminator 3 and Terminator Salvation so fans of the series can get a little prequel to the Salvation film (The film is being released 2 days after the game). Players will helm the controls of the new Barnes character, played by Common in the film, who voices all his characters dialogue. Not to worry though, you will be able to control John Connor for parts of the game as well (sans voice + likeness). |
The title will be released for XBox 360, Playstation 3, Wii, PC as well as the iPhone on May 19. |

Moon Trailer Released, Starring Sam Rockwell
April 10 2009 | film
A new film by Duncan Jones, son of David Bowie, looks to be on par with the classic, suspensful sci-fi films that first attracted me to the genre. Starring Sam Rockwell, the trailer for Moon was just released this week and has been gaining momentum on the web as praise for the film is being heard from various film festival circuits. It looks like Mr. Jones tapped into the suspense that drove such films as Alien and Blade Runner into becoming classics. In fact, the trailer appears to show a staple 1970s-style sci-film through a shiny new lense. Regardless of the film's outcome, you can be sure that Sam Rockwell will be getting some serious praise for his performance. |

Got a Craving For Chocolate? 'Le Whif' It...
April 8 2009 | food | tech
Leave it to a Harvard professor to tackle the age old chocolate conundrum; how to fill up on chocolate without filling out on chocolate. His answer? Inhale it. Seriously, take a whiff. Professor David Edwards is the lead inventor of Le Whif, a cigarette-style chocolate inhaler that can dispense cocoa goodness in vapor form. The trick was getting the food particles down to such a teeny, tiny size, that it could be successfully inhaled through such a device. You can be sure to look forward to flavors including mint chocolate, mango chocolate, raspberry chocolate and good old milk chocolate. Only available online, a 24-pack of Le Whifs can be purchased for €39.00 (~$52) |

The Simpsons Seeks a New Couch Gag
April 8 2009 | television | pop
If you're a big enough fan of The Simpsons, eerily you'll know right away if the couch intro you're watching is one you've already seen before. As many of you know, each episode of The Simpsons always presents a quick segment showing the family rushing to the couch to grab a spot in front of the TV. Each one of these intros are different and after over 430 episodes, the producers are reaching out to the fans for ideas.

The Simpsons and Myspace are holding a contest in honor of 20 years of the show being on the air. Create and submit your own couch gag with 5 friends and you'll have a shot of winning a trip to LA, attending The Simpsons series launch party, a new Home Entertainment System and a custom drawing of The Simpsons.
The contest ends on May 18th so head on over to the official Simpsons Myspace page and submit what you got.

New 'Split/Second' Cinematic by Realtime UK

RealtimeUK again blows my mind with their latest cinematic for the action-racing video game, Split/Second. Working in collaboration with Disney Interactive Studios and Blackrock Studio, a team of 8 artist using 3DSMax came up with this short animation in 4 months. Regardless of the quality of the actual game, RealtimeUK continues to provide stellar material for more and more titles. |

Japan Gives You The Coolest Juice Box EVER
April 7 2009 | food | pop | design
Leave to the great nation of Japan to bring the world it's new favorite juice box. Created by Japanese industrial designer Naoto Fukasawa (known for his minimalist furniture designs), these juice packages were designed to both look and feel like the fruit (pre-juiced) they contain within. The flavor-inspired packages so far include Strawberry, Banana, Kiwi and Silken Tofu. When these were first shown a few years ago, there was no denying the amount of creativity that went into designing them, but for financial and even eco-friendly concerns, I personally don't see them on the worldwide market in the near future. But damn....what a cool idea. |

The action figures and toys of our youth have evolved into something bigger, more impressive and much more expensive. Some of their pieces come from incredible artists who bring various visual concepts into your living room with wonderfully sculpted pieces of art...or really pretty toys. |

Videogame Cinematic Fuels Salvation Film Buzz
April 3 2009 | video game | terminator | film | CGI
At the recent Game Developers Conference held in San Francisco, Halcyon Games released a new cinematic trailer for their upcoming Terminator Salvation game that wound up becoming a huge hit at the convention and can now be seen below. The game is set to be released on the same day as the film, May 19. I'm not too surprised that Christian Bale refused to voice any of his parts for the game, but having Rose McGowan step in and lend her voice to the game? Kinda surprising. Available in HD |

Aliens vs Predator Chess Match? The Battle Continues...
March 21 2009 | film | CGI | pop
Being the Aliens/Predator/Terminator nerd that I am, I couldn't help but share this discovery on here. The following images were created by a New Zealand-based advertising company named DDB to promote premier airings of the Alien VS Predator: Reqieum film on SKY TV this past February. Created using Modo and ZBrush and touched up in Photoshop, these images almost seem to outshine the AVP films and are both original and hilarious in their conception. Follow the link below to see more images.

Sweet Chocolate Nostalgia...Bubble O' Bill
March 18 2009 | food | pop
As the temperature here in Orlando steadily increases, I'm starting to hear the bells/obnoxious jingles of more and more Ice Cream trucks drawing near. Just the other day, my friend and I approached a truck in a parking lot and took a peek at what was available. I asked the man if they still carried Bubble O' Bill ice cream. He gave the the strangest look and asked, "WHO?". I said, "Bubble O' Bill!" to which he replied, "Nah, man...we don't do that." Regardless of whether or not he even understood my inquiry, I later discovered that my favorite ice cream from NYC childhood (circa '88) had been deported several years ago...to Australia.

Jim Cramer Grilled on The Daily Show
March 13 2009 | television
Jon Stewart and The Daily Show provide such an entertaining platform to hear serious discussions with people in the know and have been using this forum sharply these past few years. The latest conversation of interest was on our current economy and the responsibilities of the news programs, many whose sole purpose is to gain insight into such financial landslides that we're seeing now, aren't doing their job, and more importantly, the major networks which overseer them. A very entertaing and smart interview not without many uncomfortable questions for Jim Cramer. |

WWII Flash Game In Progress

Spent a few hours working out some basic lighting and bump mapping for a short cinematic in a WWII aerial fighter game I have in the works. I wanted to start a new pet project and began playing around with the concept of a WWII aerial combat game a few long nights ago. We'll see where this leads and hopefully I'll be able to post an update on the game for you soon. |

The Journal of a Girl Who Loves to Cook
February 17 2009 | food
With those true words of wisdom having been said, let it be known; I love food. We all love food. It's a necessity for all, a lifestyle for some and truly a pleasure for the few who know how to open their taste buds up to anything and everything thats out there. I'm happy to say I've found a few people on the web that have helped reaffirm my
beliefs on this and, in this one case, have really helped add to my own pleasure of enjoying food by showing me her own culinary creations and experiences. Su-Yin runs the wonderful blog, The Journal of a Girl Who Loves to Cook. I began following her online journal shortly after I moveed down here to FL and am still checking in on a regular basis. Su-Yin has been passionately following her interest in the Culinary Arts and has given us this window into her travels and food crafts through her online journal entries. Her regular and consistent postings keep me tuning inregularly to see her new creations. She also has her own website, Delectable by Su, that I recommend you visit, but with her mass postings of photographs of both her own decadent desserts and other delicious looking dishes along the way, her blog is a must for you to check out.
